Shall we be led by the Spirit or by the Law

The Vision. The Strategy. The Results #11

Any structure that governs the church abandons its mission as soon as it limits its vision. The church is an organism, and for that reason there can be no such thing as “the true church structure.” The church is alive, and that means that it grows, and that means that it changes. The process of change requires that all aspects of the church structure are constantly maintained and attuned to the needs of the moment. As soon as the old organizational structure comes into conflict with the new spiritual tasks of the church, we are faced with a dilemma: either to retain the old traditions and concepts, or else sacrifice the current reputation of the church in order to fulfill God’s task. If the elders of the church chose the first option, the process of church growth stops. Being ready for the change is an important factor in the process of spiritual development of a congregation. “Then the LORD spoke to you out of the fire. You heard the sound of words but saw no form; there was only a voice. 13 He declared to you his covenant, the Ten Commandments, which he commanded you to follow and then wrote them on two stone tablets… You saw no form of any kind the day the LORD spoke to you at Horeb out of the fire. Therefore watch yourselves very carefully, 16 so that you do not become corrupt and make for yourselves an idol.” (Deuteronomy 4:12-16)
